
Chris Mathewson
Head Athletic Trainer
Chris Mathewson enters his 29th season as the head athletic trainer of Ponderosa. Chris also serves as the Director of Athletic Training for Douglas County School District through Panorama Orthopedics and Spine Clinic. In addition to those duties Chris also serves as the Ponderosa Athletic Archives Manager and Ponderosa Athletic Equipment Manager.
In February of 2015 Chris and a partner formed a company “Athletic Safety Consultants, LLC”. They are currently in development stages of a text-book and educational seminars for athletic safety.
Chris received his Bachelors degree in Exercise Physiology from the University of Wyoming in 1994. In 2001 he received his Masters degree in Sports Medicine from the United States Sports Academy. In addition to being a certified athletic trainer Chris is also a certified strength and conditioning specialist.
Chris spends a lot of time volunteering in his “spare time”. Currently Chris sits on the board of directors of the National Athletic Trainers Association Political Action Committee. Chris recently finished serving on the board of directors of the National Athletic Trainers Association. He has also held the position of secretary of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Trainers Association and has served as the President of the Colorado Athletic Trainers Association for 6 years.

Chris is married and lives in Parker with his wife Wendy and daughters Taylor and Bailey, dogs Ziggy and Bentley.
