Ponderosa Athletic Community,
In light of the new Public Health Order from Tri-County Health Department, I wanted to provide clarity in regards to its application to athletics.
Our primary focus is to ensure the safety of our athletes and to do everything we can to keep them in school and competing. We greatly appreciate your support in this and your understanding that this Public Health Order is a legal requirement that we have to enforce. To support these efforts Douglas County School District has provided protocols and expectations for athletes and spectators. Athlete expectations have been provided to all coaches and communicated to each program. They can also be found on our athletic webpage (www.ponderosaathletics.com). Expectations for spectators are below:
- There are no masking or capacity protocols/requirements for outdoor events.
- Anyone attending an event taking place in Ponderosa High School must properly wear a mask the entire time they are indoors. Spectators who are not wearing a mask will not be admitted to the event or in the school.
- At this time there are no capacity or distancing protocols for spectators.
We realize our current situation is difficult for many for a variety of reasons, but we are excited to have high school athletic events and to be able to welcome the community into our building to cheer our teams on. Thank you for your supporting our efforts to continue to provide these opportunities to our students.
